In order to meet the requirements of new standards in the automotive industry at an early stage, KOSTAL decided to expand its integrated management system. The company made great demands when looking for BPM software to implement a holistic management system. The goal was to build a worldwide information portal. Not only process modelers but all employees should feel at home there and quickly find important processes and related documents. The tool should also offer a comprehensive role concept and stringently represent process responsibilities. KOSTAL recognized at an early stage that such a project, which fundamentally changes the daily work of all employees, cannot run alongside normal business. A central competence center was set up to coordinate and implement the new QM system. This center compiled all the requirements in close consultation with the sites and specialist departments.
KOSTAL chose BIC Platform with the necessary functionalities for modeling, publishing, executing and optimizing processes and documents as the technical foundation for its KOPS, "KOSTAL Process System". The initial establishment of the central quality management system was based on the previously used manuals, process instructions, guidelines, organizational instructions and forms. These were transferred from existing systems. KOSTAL was able to transparently integrate all relevant documents, which are checked in audits, into the system. Supported by GBTEC consultants, the next step was for the competence center to collect, harmonize and integrate the existing processes, key figures and related documents. The tool accelerated this considerably with the help of its automatic model and document upload. Process modelers then linked the guided documents directly to the process steps for which they are relevant.
The BIC Platform-based system KOPS, "KOSTAL Process System", was first made available to employees for audit preparation in 2016 and has since served as a central quality management system. To maintain the high standards of work processes and managed documents in the long term, KOPS includes a comprehensive authorization system for the structured release and resubmission of content.
The tool thus supports the worldwide provision of quality-assured content, which those responsible can easily revise and optimize as needed.
The family business was founded in Lüdenscheid in 1912. KOSTAL's experience in the automotive industry has grown over decades.
